Pupils from NLCS (UK), NLCS Jeju, NLCS Dubai and NLCS (Singapore) recently gathered in London for the 2026 NLCS International Mini Model United Nations (Mini MUN) Conference, a unique programme designed specifically for Junior School pupils.
The conference provided an exciting opportunity for pupils to develop their public speaking, leadership and collaboration skills while exploring important international issues alongside peers from across the NLCS family of schools.
While Model United Nations conferences are often associated with older students, the NLCS International Mini MUN introduces these experiences at an earlier stage, allowing younger learners to engage with diplomacy, debate and global citizenship in an age appropriate and accessible way.
Throughout the conference, pupils demonstrated curiosity, confidence and a willingness to engage thoughtfully with different perspectives while developing a deeper understanding of the world around them.
The conference began with an opening ceremony and keynote address before pupils moved into committee sessions, where they explored international topics, shared ideas and worked collaboratively to develop resolutions.
Working in committees encouraged pupils to think critically, communicate effectively and collaborate with others as they considered a range of global challenges and opportunities.

One of the highlights of the conference was the General Assembly, where pupils presented and debated their resolutions before their peers.
The confidence and maturity displayed throughout the Assembly reflected the preparation and commitment pupils had shown throughout the week. Through respectful discussion and thoughtful debate, pupils demonstrated that meaningful conversations about global issues can begin from a young age.
Alongside the formal conference programme, pupils participated in a range of social and cultural activities, helping to strengthen friendships and connections across the wider NLCS International community.
Bringing together pupils from different schools, countries and cultures is a key aspect of the Mini MUN experience, fostering international mindedness and helping pupils gain a greater appreciation of different perspectives.
The conference concluded with a Closing Ceremony, where pupils were recognised for their hard work, dedication and achievements throughout the week.
Certificates were presented by Vicky Bingham, Headmistress of NLCS (UK), celebrating the enthusiasm, collaboration and commitment demonstrated by all participants.
Following the ceremony, pupils enjoyed visits to Legoland and the Harry Potter Studio Tour, providing a memorable conclusion to several days of learning, debate and collaboration.
NLCS International extends its sincere thanks to Ana Santos and Alexandros Sfakianakis for their outstanding organisation of this year’s conference.
We would also like to thank our colleagues from across the international schools whose support and dedication helped make the event such a success: Hayley Dean, Mark Mullan, Leela Kent-Hume, Natasha Morgan, Amy Long, Kevin Neeson, Lisa Finnagan, Thomas Myerscoff and Antonia Debbanaire.
We look forward to welcoming pupils to future NLCS International Mini Model United Nations Conferences and continuing to inspire the next generation of globally minded learners.
